Father Al Baca was ordained for the Diocese of Orange in 1989.  He received his license in Ecumenism and Inter-religion from the Agelicum in Rome.  He served in the Diocese of Orange as pastor of St. Cecilia’s Church in Tustin and St. Columban Church in Garden Grove.  He was also Episcopal Vicar for Ecumenism and Inter-religion for ten years.  Before his appointment as Director for Evangelization and Faith Formation, he worked for the USCCB as the Director for Ecumenism and Inter-religion for the whole United States.

The Office for Evangelization and Faith Formation is responsible for the implementation of the Strategic Plan of the Diocese, that is, for evangelization and the formation of missionary discipleship in the Diocese of Orange.  As a principal resource for our work, the Office is responsible for the basic certification and recertification of all Catholic school teachers and Faith Formation catechists through the Catechetical Institute of Franciscan University.  The Office also hosts the annual Diocesan Ministries Celebration, Evangelization Now Conference, which is its primary conference on evangelization and faith formation for the Diocese.  The Office also supports all individual, group, and parish initiatives and programs connected to evangelization and faith formation.  

Father also served as the first Contract Priest of the Diocese of Orange for Deliverance Ministries and Exorcism.  He did this for 4 years.

As of July 1, 2022, Father Baca is assigned full time to St. Anne’s in Seal Beach as a Senior Priest to assist the Pastor in pastoral ministry.
